It’s a 1-1 Hockey Game in the 2nd Period…
So, as I sit here watching the first of four Wings Sharks games of the 2008-2009 season and the Sharks just scored ruining my title but I’m not changing it. Congrats to Jamie McGinn on his first career NHL goal. (Now 3-1… OH OZZY!!!)
The team who everyone thought was going to be the team to beat in the East, the Tampa Bay Lightning have started very slowly. Vinny Lecavalier is getting hot and Mike Smith is playing his tail off in net for the Lightning. If Olie the Goalie doesn’t start winning, he may be catching some pine and become a spectator.
The Chicago Blackhawks fired their coach 4 games into the season and have flourished under Joe Quenneville. Sitting fourth in the Central Division, the Hawks are warming up and are getting ready to make their move.
The Pacific Division is going to be a dead heat between the Ducks and the Sharks. The Ducks have gotten off to a slow start at home and if they want to keep in the race, with a 13 day road trip coming up later in the season, the Ducks better start winning. The Ducks came from behind and beat the Wings last night in OT after a wild third period. Quack Quack Quack!!!
In the east, the Rangers are the first team to double digit victories and the Canadiens have only one regulation time loss. Can someone say Conference Finals preview when they meet up? Possibly.
With the World Series being completed, and the one sport no one watches (the NBA) the NHL is ready to continue gaining more and more fans. Unlike the rest of the leagues, there is non-stop play, non-stop excitement, and a you never know what to expect. While the weather outside cools down, the temperatures inside hockey stadiums are heating up and it’s going to be a wild winter.
Have a good winter everyone…

WTHWWT- Week 8 (Nathan)

Me thinking the Cowgirls would lose.
So, I’m seriously questioning what the hell I was thinking.
1. Picking and starting the 49ers’ players for my fantasy team? Fail
2. Thinking a team from Pennsylvania would actually do something to make me happy? Epic Fail
3. Thinking Dallas would lose again? Failtacular
New England Patriots 23 vs. St. Louis Rams 16 – Just when times were getting good for the Rams, the NFL declined the contract of Jim Haslett, stating that it was an illegal contract due to the agreement on Haslett winning 6 games, and then the Rams had to travel to New England, which is never a good thing (just ask Peyton Manning). The Patriots won another game without Tom Brady and without a dominant rushing performance by anyone. Matt Cassel had two interceptions, and yet still led his team to a victory. Maybe he is that good… Maybe!
Dallas Cowgirls 13 vs. Tampa Bay Bucs 9 – So I pick Dallas and they lose. I pick against them and I lose. Brad Johnson led his team to victory and the Buccaneers just couldn’t get anything going. Maybe next week I won’t pick the Cowgirl game.

Reactions from Cowgirls players were positive after the W
Miami Dolphins 25 vs. Buffalo Bills 16 – Chad Pennington threw for over 300 yards and the Dolphins withstood the offense of the Buffalo Bills, and survived to win. The Bills, maybe looking overlooking these next few games due to the easy schedule, just could not get any rushing going, and Trent Edwards is not proven enough yet to lead his team by just throwing the ball. Congrats Dick Jauron getting a contract extension. Well Deserved!
Cleveland Browns 23 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars 17 – HEY LOOK THE BROWNS WON A GAME!!! I guess the state of Ohio has something to cheer about after The Ohio State Buckeyes lost and watched their National Championship chances implode right in front of their eyes! Congrats Joe Pa and Romeo Crennel.
Houston Texans 35 vs Cincinnati Bungals 6 – HELLO BENGALS… ARE YOU THERE? Its time you show up to give your opponents a game. You just let the Houston Texans walk all over you. I think its time for a change somewhere on the sidelines. When will y’all get sick of losing? Hopefully, its soon.

She isn't very happy with losing to Houston.
New York Giants 21 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers 14 – Who thought a long snapper would decide the game? Well, the Steelers lost their long snapper due to injury, and his replacement took the word “long” literally and hiked the ball over the punters head and that led to a safety which tied the game. Then Eli Manning led his team to their first and only TD of the game and the Giants D stopped Big Ben and the Steelers offense to clinch the game. This is the beginning of a very tough road for the Giants.. Thanks, Steelers. You let me down again!
Seattle Seahawks 34 vs. San Francisco 49ers 13 – A new coach, a new attitude, the same result. Another L in the loss column for the 49ers. Seattle, depleted by injuries, dominated from the beginning and never looked back. Hopefully Mike Holmgren goes out strong in his final games as head coach for the ‘Hawks.
P.S.: This was written before Ray!!! Nathan Wins!!!

WTHWWT – Week 7 (Ray)
Well, what do you know? I actually have a great week in picking! Sad thing is I almost changed my Dallas pick to St. Louis, but didn’t. Damn. The Pack crushed the Colts and didn’t allow Peyton to throw a TD. When is the last time that happened? Virginia Tech standout Aaron Rouse had a 99-yard pick-six too! Great stuff.
Chicago 48 Minnesota 41
I have pretty much ran out of stuff to say on the Bears and Vikings seeing as I write about one every week. Both teams need to figure out who they are and stop being inconsistent. The Vikes had more total yards, but Gus Frerotte threw 4 interceptions. That is not going to get anything done. Adrian Peterson ran well, but because of Gus’ stupidity, Minnesota goes down. As much as I don’t like the Bears, I like Kyle Orton, always have. I wonder if anybody remembers Rex?
St. Louis 34 Dallas 14
This is another one of the games I am thrilled to write about. The Cowboys got absolutely thrashed and I got to watch it. Brad Johnson, playing for the injured Romo, was probably the worst quarterback to replace him. He played dreadful and should just go ahead and retire. What is Drew Henson doing these days? Dallas is screwed if they keep getting injuries; the latest is safety Roy Williams who is done for the season. One thing I do want to mention is why ESPN is telling us Wade Phillips job is safe. Of course it is. Why would you even bring that up to Jerry Jones? It is not Wade’s problem that everyone is getting injured. Stop trying to make stupid drama when there doesn’t need to be. Seriously, leave the man alone.
